About Thomas More College
Educational Offerings
Thomas More College has grown into a well-regarded, modern co-educational Catholic institution with a robust offering of programs for undergraduate and graduate students, regardless of faith and belief. A variety of majors and areas of study are available, spanning liberal arts and sciences, business, medical technology and nursing.
Thomas More has both continuing education and the Thomas More Accelerated Program (TAP) specifically for adult students.
Continuing Education
A variety of adult students choose to enroll in Thomas More's Department of Continuing Education courses. These students make up approximately 30 percent of the student body. The faculty and administration create a curriculum that will work for you and your busy schedule. Thomas More's courses are taught during the day, in the evening, or on weekends. It's Thomas More's pleasure to assist you in working with your current schedule and helping you plan for your future.
Our Continuing Education Academic Advisers are trained to determine the needs of the adult student. They are available to assist you with any questions or guide you through the admissions process.
Thomas More Accelerated Program (TAP)
TAP is designed with the adult student in mind. The degree programs are designed for working adults, where students can earn their degree while working full time. Classes are centered on group study and they meet once a week. Thomas More encourages adult students to interact and participate in educational lessons. Thomas More believes in applying real-life situations to the programs of study.
Accelerated Degree Programs
TAP was introduced in 1993, and since then has had more than 3,000 students enrolled who have earned associate, bachelor, and master's degrees while working full time. The degree program course work was shortened from a standard semester to 5–7 weeks per course.

History
Thomas More College was founded in 1921, as a teacher's college and was originally named Villa Madonna College. Villa Madonna graduated its first students in 1929. The college was founded for women, but men attended many of the same classes through the Villa Madonna affiliated, St. Thomas More College. In 1945, Villa Madonna was designated a co-educational college and St. Thomas More College was abolished. The new complex was renamed Thomas More College and was dedicated by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1968. In 1993 Thomas More College introduced an accelerated degree completion program for working adult professionals. Three years later, the Master of Business Administration program was established in the accelerated format and became the first graduate degree offered by the college. In 2003, the Associate in Elected Studies was also added to the program. Since 1993, more than 3,000 students have enrolled in TAP.
